Who does not melt for little eyes like these? Pets love us with unconditional love. They teach us how to truly love, without selfishness, without jealousy, openly and from the heart. Rocky is a happy dog and his mom wanted a portrait of him for her favorite corner. I have to confess, it is the first time that I make a Dog portrait and I loved every piece of it.
Pet Portrait: Creative Process.
A couple of weeks ago, I went to the beach with my best friend and her daughter. Being there, with my feet on the sand and the sea in the background, I began to draw Rocky. It was a wonderful moment when I met his cute eyes in the reference photo and I could not stop until I finished it. I’m not going to lie, at first I had doubts, but when the sketch was finished I knew I had managed to capture his essence.
Rocky, My favorite West Highland White Terrier
You can see the process from beginning to end from the pencil sketch to the digital drawing. I love the magic of transforming the lines without losing the stroke that only ink gives us on paper. It was an honor to do this project for my client. I am proud to share this portrait with you. Pets make us happy, and I believe we need them more than they need us.
